 (5) Simple Past Tense (V₂)

*** အတိတ်မှာ ပြီးစီးခဲ့သည့်၊ ကျန်ခဲ့သည့် အဖြစ်အပျက်အကြောင်းအရာကို ဖော်ပြရာတွင် သုံးသည်။

*** အတိတ်တိကျချိန်ကို ဖော်ပြနိုင်သည်။ (For + ကြာချိန်) (in + month/ year)

*** Yesterday, ago, last, previous, … စသည့် စကားလုံးများနှင့် တွဲသုံးလေ့ရှိသည်။

*** အငြင်းအနေနှင့် သုံးမည်ဆိုလျှင် (Subject + did + not + V₁) ဖြင့် သုံးရမည်။

*** အမေးအနေနှင့် သုံးမည်ဆိုလျှင် (Did + Subject + V₁) ဖြင့် သုံးရမည်။

*** Verb to be နှင့် သုံးမည်ဆိုလျှင် (Subject) အနည်း၊ အများကို ကြည့်ပြီး (was, were) သုံးရမည်။

Eg: (1) I was born in 1981. (ကျွန်တော်က ၁၉၈၁ ခု ဖွားပါ။)

(2) I bought this book last week. (ကျွန်တော် ဒီစာအုပ်ကို လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့အပတ်က ဝယ်ခဲ့တာပါ။)

(3) The Sagaing Bridge was opened on January 2, 1934.

(4) Kaung Thuta ate ice-cream yesterday. (ကောင်းသုတ မနေ့က ရေခဲမုန့်စားခဲ့တယ်။)

(5) The police stopped me on my way home last night. (မနေ့ညက ကျွန်တော့် အိမ်အပြန်လမ်း မှာ ရဲတွေက ကျွန်တော့်ကို တားခဲ့ကြတယ်။)

(6) I went to the cinema four times last month. (ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့လက ကျွန်တော် ရုပ်ရှင်လေးခါ သွားကြည့်ခဲ့တယ်။)

(7) I was angry because they were late. (သူတို့နောက်ကျလို့ ကျွန်တော် စိတ်ဆိုးခဲ့တယ်။)

(8) Author Shint Nyo Lay wrote many essays.(စာရေးဆရာ ရှဉ့်ညိုလေးက အက်ဆေး အများအပြား ရေးခဲ့တယ်။)

(9) The window was open and a bird flew into the room. (ပြတင်းပေါက် ဖွင့်ထားတော့ ငှက်တစ်ကောင် အခန်းထဲဝင်လာခဲ့တယ်။)

(10) Thin Thin spent a lot of money yesterday. (သင်းသင်းက ငွေအများကြီးကို မနေ့က သုံးခဲ့တယ်။)

(11) U Nu was the first prime minister of Myanmar. (ဦးနုဟာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ ပထမဆုံး ဝန်ကြီးချုပ် ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။)

(12) Thuta ate breakfast early yesterday. (မနေ့က နံနက်စာကို စောစောပဲ သုတ စားခဲ့တယ်။)

(13) The sun rose at 6 a.m yesterday. (နေက မနေ့ကတော့ ၆ နာရီ ထွက်တာပဲ။)

(14) Pyi Soe was friends with Khant Min Naung when he was a kid. (ပြည်စိုးက ကလေးဘဝတုန်းက ခန့်မင်းနောင်နဲ့ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေ ဖြစ်ခဲ့တယ်။)

(15) Ko Kaung lived in Naypyitaw for three years. (ကိုကောင်း နေပြည်တော်မှာ သုံးနှစ် နေခဲ့တယ်)။

(16) My father wrote two short stories last month. (ကျွန်တော့်အဖေက ဝတ္ထုတိုနှစ်ပုဒ်ကို လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ လက ရေးခဲ့တယ်။)

(17) My mother drunk four cups of coffee yesterday. (ကျွန်တော့်အမေ မနေ့က ကော်ဖီ လေးခွက် သောက်ခဲ့တယ်။)

(18) I visited Pyin Oo Lwin many times when I was a kid. (ကျွန်တော် ကလေးဘဝတုန်းက ပြင်ဦးလွင်ကို အကြိမ်များစွာ လည်ဖူးတယ်။)

(19) Ma Mee dotated blood at hospital fourty times. (မမီးက ဆေးရုံးမှာ သွေးလှူခဲ့တာ အကြိမ်လေးဆယ် ရှိခဲ့ပြီ။)

(20) I used to live in a village. I shifted to a city a year ago. (ကျွန်တော် ရွာမှာ နေဖူးတယ်။ လွန်ခဲ့တဲ့ တစ်နှစ်ကမှ မြို့ပြောင်းလာတာ။)

(21) I had my breakfast at 6 a.m. (ကျွန်တော် မနက်စာကို ၆ နာရီမှာ စားခဲ့ပြီးပြီ။) *** had = စားသည် အနေနှင့် သုံး

I have my breakfast at 6 a.m. (ကျွန်တော် မနက်စာကို ၆ နာရီမှာ စားတယ်။) *** have = စားသည် (Simple Present Tense)

(22) We had my breakfast at 6 a.m. (ကျွန်တော်တို့ မနက်စာကို ၆ နာရီမှာ စားခဲ့ပြီးပြီ။) *** had = စားသည် အနေနှင့် သုံး

(23) He had a banana for breakfast. (သူက မနက်စာအဖြစ် ငှက်ပျောသီးတစ်လုံးကို စားခဲ့တယ်။) *** had = စားသည် အနေနှင့် သုံး

(24) We did a lot of hiking when we were young. (ကျွန်တော်တို့ ငယ်ငယ်တုန်းက hiking တွေ အများကြီး လုပ်ခဲ့တယ်။)

Hiking = အပျော်တမ်း တောင်တက်ခြင်း၊ ခရီးရှည်လမ်းလျှောက်ခြင်း

(25) Ko Ko did a trip to Pyin Oo Lwin when he was in Mandalay. (ကိုကို မန္တလေးရောက်တုန်း ပြင်ဦးလွင်ကို ခရီးတို ထွက်ခဲ့တယ်။)

Do a trip = ခရီးတို ထွက်သည်

(26) I did not study English at university. (ကျွန်တော် တက္ကသိုလ်မှာတုန်းက အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ မသင်ယူခဲ့ပါဘူး။)

(27) She did not like watching movies. (သူမက ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်ရတာကို မကြိုက်ခဲ့ဘူး။)

(28) We did not see many people at her wedding. (ကျွန်တော်တို့ သူမ မင်္ဂလာဆောင်မှာ လူတွေအများကြီး မတွေ့ခဲ့ပါဘူး။)

(29) They did not have much money in those days. (အဲဒီကာလတွေတုန်းက သူတို့ ပိုက်ဆံ သိပ်မရှိခဲ့ကြဘူး။)

(30) He did not do sport at all. (သူက ဘာအားကစားမှ မလုပ်ခဲ့ဘူး။) *** ဤစာကြောင်းတွင် did သည် အကူကြိယာ (H.V) အဖြစ်သုံး၍ do သည် အဓိကကြိယာ (M.V) အဖြစ် သုံးထားသည်။
