(1)Adverb of Time (အချိန်ပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

E.g. yet, yesterday, today, tonight, tomorrow, then, last year, now, soon, early, later, already, etc.

They haven’t arrived home yet.

She went to City Mark yesterday.

He saw an author today.

U Chit Swe will play the piano tonight.

I’ve got to finish this essay by tomorrow.

(2) Adverb of Frequency (အကြိမ်ပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

E.g., always, often, sometimes, normally, occasionally, seldom, rarely, ever, never, twice, etc.

He always leaves the lights on.

I often see him in the market.

Sometimes you think you can’t really trust anybody.

She doesn’t normally arrive until nine o’clock.

He usually gets home at about six o’clock.

(3) Adverb of Place (နေရာပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

Eg: here, there, indoors, outdoors, upstairs, above, abroad, far, on, back, behind, below, down, etc.

Mandalay is only 84 miles from here.

Put the chair there.

The rain kept me indoors all weekend.

If the weather’s good, we’ll eat outdoors.

He heard glass breaking and ran upstairs to see what had caused it.

(4) Adverb of Manner (အမူအရာပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

Eg: slowly, badly, soundly, loudly, quietly, easily, painfully, carefully, cheerfully, hard, well, fast, etc.

I got out of bed and walked slowly to the door.

I thought he was treated very badly.

Daw Pyae Phyo San always sleeps soundly.

He cried loudly, put his pants on, and went out.

She sat quietly, hands folded in her lap.

(5) Adverb of Degree (ပမာဏ အဆင့်အတန်းပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

Eg: very, rather, fairly, extremely, too, much, quite, a little, enough, just, almost, completely, etc.

This is the very best chocolate cake I’ve ever tasted.

She answered the phone rather sleepily.

They have always dealt honestly and fairly with their customers.

She’s extremely beautiful.

It’s too hard to explain.

(6) Adverb of Affirmation or Negation (ဝန်ခံ၊ ငြင်းပယ်မှုပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

Eg: yes, no, surely, really, indeed, …

“ Have you had enough to eat?” “ Yes, thank you.”

“ Do you have any homework tonight?” “ No.

Surely you’re not going out on a night like this?

They are really staying tonight for a sleepover.

If he had indeed quit his job, I asked myself, why was he still here?

(7) Adverb of Reason (အကြောင်းပြ ကြိယာဝိသေသန)

Eg: because, hence, necessarily, so, since, thus, therefore, …

The journey was quite quick because the road was clear.

The prime minister was attending the conference, hence all the extra security.

Money doesn’t necessarily buy happiness.

So, here we are again – just you and me.

Since we’ve got a few minutes to wait for the train, let’s have a cup of coffee.

* တချို့သော (Adverb) တို့သည် (Adjective) တို့နှင့် အတူတူပင် ဖြစ်သည်။

Eg: very, near, far, fast, hard, high, low, early, late, much, little, only, back, etc.

This is hard work. (adj+N)

He works hard. (V+adj)

Go to the back door. (adj+N)

Go back. (adv)

This car is fast. (adj)

He drives fast. (adv)
