  • စားေသာက္ဆိုင္တစ္ခုဟာအရာသံုးမ်ိဳးကိုေရာင္းခ်ပါတယ္။ အဲဒါေတြကေတာ့ Food အစားအစာ၊ location တည္ေနရာ၊ နဲ႔ atmosphere ပတ္၀န္းက်င္အေငြ႔အသက္ တို႔ပါတဲ့။ ကိုယ့္ဆိုင္ကို လာစားတဲ့ဧည့္သည္ ဆိုင္၀ေရာက္ခ်ိန္ကစၿပီး ျပန္ထြက္သြားတဲ့အထိ ဧည့္သည္စိတ္ေက်နပ္ေအာင္ လုပ္ႏိုင္မွ ေနာက္တစ္ေခါက္ျပန္လာမယ့္ loyal customer ျဖစ္မွာမို႔ စီမံခန္႔ခြဲမႈေကာင္းတဲ့ဟိုတယ္၊ စားေသာက္ဆိုင္ေတြဟာ ဒီအခ်က္ကိုဂ႐ိုစိုက္ေလ့ရွိပါတယ္။ ဒီသင္ခန္းစာမွာေတာ့ အစားအေသာက္မွာယူတာကို လက္ခံပံုေလ့လာၾကည့္ၾကပါမယ္။
Unit 9 Taking a food order (အစားအေသာက္မွာၾကားမႈအားလက္ခံျခင္း)
Staff:           Good evening sir, a table for two?
Customer:     Yes, please. The name’s Martin.
Staff:           I’ll show you to your table, this way. Can I take your coat?
Customer:     Thank you.
Staff:           Here’s the menu and wine list.
                   Can I get you an aperitifs?
Customer2:   Yes please, a gin and tonic.
Customer1:   And the same for me.
Staff:           Thank you. Here you are, two gin and tonics. Are you ready to order now?
Customer2:   Yes I think so, what’s the soup of the day?
Staff:           It’s tomato and butter.
Customer2:   I think I’ll have avocado and pawn tart to start with, followed by the salmon.
Customer1:   The goat’s cheese salad for me please, followed by the fillet steak.
Staff:           How would you like your steak?
Customer1:   Medium rare please.
Staff:           And would you like to order some wine?
Customer1:  Yes, what about Cabernet Sauvignon?
Customer2:   I think I prefer white. Why don’t you have half a bottle of cabana and I’ll have a glass of Chablis. Can you have a bottle of mineral water please?
Staff:           Still or sparkling?
Customer2:   Still please.
ေလ့လာထားရမည့္ expression မ်ား
I’ll show you to your table = လူႀကီးမင္းစားပြဲကိုလိုက္ျပပါ့မယ္
Can I take your coat? = လူႀကီးမင္းကုတ္အက်ႌယူထားေပးရမလား
Here’s the menu and wine list.  ေဟာဒီမွာ မီႏူးနဲ႔၀ိုင္စာရင္းပါ
Can I get you an aperitifs? ခံတြင္းၿမိန္ဖို႔ေသာက္စရာတစ္ခုခုယူမလား။
Are you ready to order now? မွာလို႔ရပါၿပီလား
How would you like your steak? အမဲသားကင္ကိုဘယ္လိုပံုစံမ်ိဳးနဲ႔လိုခ်င္ပါလဲ။
Would you like to order some wine? ၀ိုင္မွာဦးမလားခင္ဗ်ာ

အမဲသားကင္မွာ ဘယ္ေလာက္က်က္ေအာင္ခ်က္သလဲဆိုတာေပၚမူတည္ၿပီး well done ကို က်က္က်က္၊ medium rare ကို အေနေတာ္၊ rare ကိုမက်က္တက်က္စသည္ျဖင့္ေျပာၾကပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ အခ်က္အျပဳတ္ပညာရပ္မွာေတာ့သူ႔ဟာနဲ႔သူ တိက်တဲ့သတ္မွတ္ခ်က္မ်ားရွိပါတယ္။

bacon = ၀က္ဆားနယ္ေျခာက္
basil = ပင္စိမ္းရြက္

followed by = ေနာက္မွလိုက္လာသည္။
grilled = မီးႏွင့္ကင္သည္
half a bottle = ပုလင္းတစ္၀က္
ham = ၀က္ေပါင္ေျခာက္
meat = အသား
menu = ဟင္းလ်ာစာရင္း
mushroom = မိႈ
salmon = ေဆာ္လမြန္ငါး
sandwich = အသားညွပ္ေပါင္မုန္႔

ေလ့လာထားရမည့္၀ါက်တည္ေဆာက္ပံုမ်ား
articles a, an, the
ေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားသိထားၾကၿပီးသားျဖစ္မွာပါ။ ေရတြက္လို႔ရတဲ့နာမ္ေတြရဲ႕ေရွ႕မွာ a, an, the ကိုထည့္သံုးရပါတယ္။ a/an ကိ ု indefinite articles လို႔ေခၚၿပီး ပထမဦးဆံုးအႀကိမ္စသံုးတဲ့နာမ္ေတြရဲ႕ေရွ႕မွာထည့္ေပးရၿပီး အဲဒီနာမ္ကို ဒုတိယအႀကိမ္သံုးမယ္ဆိုရင္ ဒါမွမဟုတ္ တစ္ခုခုအတိအက်နာမ္ကိုရည္ညႊန္းခ်င္တဲ့အခါမွာ definite article the ကိုသံုးေပးရပါမယ္။
ဆိုၾကပါစို႔ let’s read the book. လို႔ေျပာတဲ့အခါ ေျပာတဲ့သူေရာနားေထာင္တဲ့သူပါ ဘယ္စာအုပ္လဲဆိုတာ သိထားၿပီးသားျဖစ္တယ္။ let’s read a book. ဆိုရင္ေတာ့ စာအုပ္တစ္အုပ္၊ ဘာစာအုပ္မဆိုျဖစ္ႏိုင္တယ္။  a, e, I, o, u နဲ႔စတဲ့စကားလံုးေတြေရွ႕မွာ an သံုးရတယ္လို႔ငယ္ငယ္က မွတ္ခဲ့တာတကယ္ေတာ့ မျပည့္စံုပါဘူး။ တကယ္က vowel သရသံထြက္တဲ့စကားလံုးေတြေရွ႕မွာသာ an သံုးရတာပါ။ a university,a  user, an hour တို႔လိုေပါ့။ the ကေတာ့သံုးရတာနည္းနည္း႐ႈပ္ေထြး တတ္ပါတယ္။
ေအာက္ပါ guidline ကေလ့လာသူေတြအတြက္အဆင္ေျပႏိုင္ပါတယ္။
Do not use the before:
  • names of most countries/territories: Italy, Mexico, Bolivia; however, the Netherlands,the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, the United States
  • names of cities, towns, or states: Seoul, Manitoba, Miami
  • names of streets: Washington Blvd., Main St.
  • names of lakes and bays: Lake Titicaca, Lake Erie except with a group of lakes like the Great Lakes
  • names of mountains: Mount Everest, Mount Fuji except with ranges of mountains likethe Andes or the Rockies or unusual names like the Matterhorn
  • names of continents (Asia, Europe)
  • names of islands (Easter Island, Maui, Key West) except with island chains like theAleutians, the Hebrides, or the Canary Islands
Do use the before:
  • names of rivers, oceans and seas: the Nile, the Pacific
  • points on the globe: the Equator, the North Pole
  • geographical areas: the Middle East, the West
  • deserts, forests, gulfs, and peninsulas: the Sahara, the Persian Gulf, the Black Forest,the Iberian Peninsula
ေအာက္ပါနာမ္တစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ကိုေတာ့ article the သံုးဖို႔မလိုပါဘူး။
  • Names of languages and nationalities: Chinese, English, Spanish, Russian (unless you are referring to the population of the nation: "The Spanish are known for their warm hospitality.")
  • Names of sports: volleyball, hockey, baseball
  • Names of academic subjects: mathematics, biology, history, computer science

၁။      ေအာက္ပါ၀ါက်မ်ားကို a/an, the တစ္ခုခုသံုးၿပီးျဖည့္ပါ။
1.       Can we have ............ adjoinig room?
2.       What's .............. dish of the day?
3.       Could we have ............. for tour?
4.       Put ......... olive on a cocktail stick. Then, put ....... olive in the glass.
5.       Yes, the hotel has .......... car park.
6.       Put some crushed ice into ......... cocktail shaker. Pour three measures of gin into .......... shaker and stir.
၂။      ေအာက္ပါ၀ါက်မ်ားကို a/an, some တစ္ခုခုသံုး၍ျဖည့္ပါ။
